An international conference “Digital Agenda for Statistics: Immediacy, Quality, Transparency” was held in Moscow on 14-15 November. Preparations for the first digital population census in Russia was one of the key topics of the event.

“Today, digital census is de facto becoming the best practice for many countries. Over 85% of the EU states are planning to use tablet computers and electronic questionnaires. Last month, Belarus had its first digital population census. Russia will hold its national digital census in October 2020. Our priorities are convenience for the people and quick processing of results,” Pavel Malkov, head of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), said in his speech.

The conference brought together over 300 representatives of government agencies, as well as experts and leading specialists from international statistical offices. The event was organized with the support of CROS.
